IN & OUT Bail Bonds
“…a family company with a long history and a honest reputation.”
A QUICK HISTORY FROM IN & OUT BAIL BONDS BACK – A&A Bail Bonds and Vista Bail Bonds.
1959, Ben Dower started his bail bond company in the North San Diego County City of Escondido before moving to Vista. He chose the name A&A Bail Bonds because it would always be the first name listed in every phone book.
Yes actual paper phone books used to be very important.
Anyway Ben liked to help people and quickly learned that people calling from in the “Pokey” were regular people just in need of help! The bail bond business in the North San Diego County area seemed to be a good way to make a little extra money, but Ben found it also meant a lot of extra hours just to earn that extra little pay.
Ben’s integrity, determination and drive (or stubbornness!), along with his natural charm, made him well-known and liked throughout San Diego County. He earned the respect of San Diego judges, DA’s, law enforcement, attorneys, biker’s and criminals alike. His upfront approach and willingness to go the extra mile just to help others made him highly-respected.

1967, Virginia Dower, Ben’s wife, was approved by the California Department of Insurance to own and use the name “Vista Bail Bonds”. In 1987 the company moved from of a small SFH house a block north from the County Court Complex and Vista jail to an office building nic-named Darth Vader located directly across the little traveled two lane Melrose Drive.
A lot has changed since then, but the office of IN & OUT Bail Bonds remain in that same complex known as the ATRIUM directly across the heavily traveled four lane freeway-like Melrose Drive.
Our time in the bail bond business in the North San Diego County area of Vista began with A&A Bail Bonds, Dower Bail Bonds, North County Bail Bonds through Vista Bail Bonds with only IN & OUT Bail Bonds still family operated. My family built and operated the longest most established bail bond business in Vista, California and I continue the legacy with In & Out Bail Bonds.
The lessons taught by Ben about why you must go above and beyond what is expected in service created the foundation for how In & Out bail Bonds will treat every family member, friend, or loved one who calls on us for help.
Sadly Ben passed away in 1988 and the bail bond industry and community lost a remarkable person. He will always be remembered for going up and beyond to help people in need.
The bail agents who worked for our family during our 60 plus years started with Bernard Dower, Virginia Dower, Calvin Minard, Ronald Demery, Mack Dower, Ray Volks, Michael Demery, Brian Dower, Marg Ekert, Matthew Demery, Janice Telisky, Shane Gonzalez, Joe Copeland, James Condry, Cesar Valdez, Dawnie Budvarsen, Paul Williams, Sharon Demery, David Demery and Eric Marquez.
Matthew Demery made Vista Bail Bonds first in many things, which today are common practices. First to change the old Hollywood image of the smoke-filled, back alley shady looking bail bond office to a professional modern office where you and your family feel safe, comfortable and heard. We were 1st to have a informational web site in 1996 and 1st to have a colorful fun modern van to advertise. First to create award winning radio ads and more.
But the experience gained from 33 years owning Vista Bail Bonds will now be carried on with IN & OUT Bail Bonds. We will provide information about the bail bond business to the interested public freely. We are leaders in the process of bailing someone out of jail while making it a safe, positive, and professional experience.
SERVING ALL SAN DIEGO AND BEYOND.
