Oregon – No Bail Bonds = More Fugitives

In Oregon they might call it sub-human nature or just criminals being criminals, but there is no doubt that when you remove any accountability from the criminal justice system you can guarantee one thing for certain …you will have a lot of forfeitures and fugitives. It has been proven time and time again, that when someone who has been arrested and then released by pretrial without any financial security, the chances of that individual appearing back in court drop down significantly. An example to look at is the state of Oregon:  they banned commercial bail four decades ago and, to this day,  make it illegal for a commercial Bail Bondsman or their Bounty Hunters to arrest any fugitives within Oregon’s boundaries even if the fugitive is running from another states justice. According to a recent news story, the state of Oregon is dealing with a fugitive crisis that at one point exceeded 30,000 outstanding warrants in just one county alone.

Oregon has become a safe haven for those breaking the law because of the state’s unfortunate lack of bail bond agents.
