Phone and Text Scams are on the Rise
Vishing (or voice phishing) is the criminal practice of using social engineering over the telephone system to gain access to private personal and financial information from the public for the purpose of financial reward. Simply put, criminals try to trick unsuspecting individuals into providing their personal information over the phone.
Some scammers will send a message or call saying your debit or credit card has been compromised or locked and you need to enter personal information to reactivate your card. SDCCU will never ask you to give us your personal information for this purpose.
To protect your identity and confidential information, never give your account number, PIN or any other personal financial information to an unknown caller or suspicious text message. When in doubt, call you local police.
